Raheem Hines, age 44, of Albany, was arrested Monday, May 16, according to authorities.
Investigators said at the time of his arrest Hines had a loaded 9mm handgun, Albany Police said.
His capture came nearly a week after the victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound to her abdomen inside her home on Partridge Street near Madison Avenue.
She was taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Investigators said Hines walked onto the woman's front porch at around 4:45 a.m. and fired the gun through a window, striking her.
James Scott, a neighbor of the victim, posted home security footage on Facebook that he said captured the entire incident.
He said the suspect had attempted to steal his motorcycle when he was confronted by the victim.
The video shows the suspect walk onto the woman's front porch and point a gun into her home before firing a single shot. He can then be seen lingering for a moment before walking away and talking to himself.
"Thankfully the gun jammed and he wasn't able to let off anymore shots," Scott said.
Police said they found Hines near North Allen and Chestnut streets in Albany.
A woman who was with him at the time, Tanisha Hines, age 43, of Albany, was also arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
Both were arraigned Monday in Albany City Criminal Court.
Mr. Hines was being held at the Albany County jail.
